The More Things Change

Our God is a God who excels at transitions. After the exile of the Jews in Babylon it was God who orchestrated the reign of the generous king Cyrus to return his people to their Promised Land. Such an honorable and supported return could not have been guessed when they left their homeland, but God guided his people in a clear and powerful way to their new situation.
In Acts 10 the Church was growing and spreading amongst Jews and Samaritans, but God saw fit to spread even broader. Bringing the message to Gentiles was a change which many would have been hesitant or even opposed to, but through visions and powerful providence God showed his desire for the situation. It all ends with a household of God-fearing Gentiles being filled with the Holy Spirit during the middle of Peter’s sermon. Any doubts are cut off before they can even be verbalized and the Church is changed forever. God is a God who excels at transitions.
And the reason why is because He actually never changes. He knows that no mat- ter the situation His love, justice and mercy are enough to conquer any problem. I pray that as you seniors go through graduation and spread out to find your futures you allow God to guide your transition. No matter how different your life may be out on your own or where you head to, what is truly important won’t actually change. You will have people who care for you, a God who loves you more deeply than you can know, and a duty to love Him back.
God is a God who excels at transition and that makes you people who excel at transition too.
