Making All Things New

The Sunday Morning Lesson Series on Mark* has renewed some thinking for me and I hope for you as well. It has caused me to consider what it means to be a disciple (follower) of Christ. When we accepted Christ and were buried with Him in baptism what exactly were we doing and what ought we to expect from here?

Jesus is speaking in Revelation 3: 20 saying, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” How comforting to know that Jesus is with us and lovingly befriending and walking through life by our side.

The Apostle Paul says, “Therefore if any one is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!” It may not seem to us that much has changed, but things have completely changed. We’ve begun a new life. We are spiritually reborn into a new existence both spiritually and physically. Physically speaking in that our actions are now Christ centered, a new life.

This new life comes from inside us. John 7:38 says, “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, ‘rivers of living water will flow from within them.’” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.” Evidence of the Spirit will be seen in the Fruit we bear.

If your experience is any thing like mine or like what the Scripture teaches, we are always being renewed by the transformation of our mind by the Word of God (Rom. 12:1, 2).

Enjoy your new life!
